Phil Scarlett

We are truly profoundly saddened with the news of Phil Scarlett’s passing.

Many times we wait until a friend has died to tell the world what a wonderful person they were, and I’m just as guilty as the next person about that. Today, I, the Directors and partners of PIF UK would like to pay a short tribute to Phil.

We would like to express, on behalf of everyone who knew Phil, our most sincere sympathies to Phil’s family during this difficult time. Phil was a highly valuable and the most well respected member of our team and the effects of his passing are already being felt by us all.

Phil was truly a wonderful, gentle, gracious man who understood the meaning of the word "team." He was always more focused on the good of the company or project he was working on than on his own benefit. He made so many great contributions and helped us move forward in numerous ways. His work here will never be forgotten.

Phil was a remarkable man and everyone at UK PIF is better for having known him. For those of us that had the privilege of calling him "friend" outside of work, we were humbled by his kindness and compassion to everyone around him.

Please accept our sincere condolences, Phil will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him, and we are all very saddened by his death. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.

I would like to read something that was written by a truly great Englishman, Winston Churchill, I'm sure Phil would approve because I think it sums up, in a way, his own philosophy on life.

  • Let us be contented with what has happened and be thankful for all that we have been spared.
  • Let us accept the natural order of things in which we move.
  • Let us reconcile ourselves to the mysterious rhythm of our destinies; such as they must be in this world of space and time.
  • Let us treasure our joys but not bewail our sorrows.
  • The glory of light cannot exist without its shadows.
  • Life is a whole, and good and ill must be accepted together.
  • The journey has been enjoyable and well worth making… once.

Phil Scarlett – Passed on 19th September 2017 aged 65 years.
